Steven Walowski

Current Member - Planning & Zoning Commission
For the past 30 years, my wife Kelly and I have called Southington our home. We have been married for 35 years and this is where we chose to raise our two sons. I attended Delaware Valley University and while there earned a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape design. Upon graduation in 1984 I founded Hillside Landscaping, a landscape design, construction and Organic lawn care company. As a small business owner for the past 37 years, I have gained a unique perspective of business and how it relates to politics. I hope to keep sharing this perspective with the people of Southington.
My Community involvement began coaching youth football at SVMFL and baseball at Southington West little league. Coaching my sons was extremely rewarding and taught me balance between work and family life. As our sons entered Southington High School, my wife and I became very involved with the Southington Gridiron Club where we helped with practice and gameday logistics as well as the concession stand. We also helped organize team involvement with Bread for Life, The Race for the Cure and many other initiatives in town spirited by The Calvanese Foundation.
In 2018, I became more involved with the Southington Republican Town Committee and was subsequently asked to join. As a committee member I became involved in local election support during the 2018 and 2020, elections that saw unprecedented success.
My service includes:
  • SRTC Member 2018-Present
  • SRTC Executive Committee 2019-Present
  • Board of Ethics Alternate 2019
  • Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) 2019-2021
  • Planning and Zoning January 2021-Present.
I am eager to continue to work with and for the community and its leaders.  As I look forward to that work, along with my fellow commissioners, I am committed to increasing our commercial and industrial tax base while at the same time continuing to support the acquisition of open space for future generations in order to limit residential development and preserve the character of our town.
