Ron Lamoreux Jr
Current Member - Board of Water Commissioners My name is Ron Lamoreux, Jr. and I am running for the Board of Water Commissioners.
In 1999, my wife Christy and I, decided to call Southington our home and purchased a house in town. Shortly thereafter, I announced my desire to get involved in local town politics. It has been 20 years since that day and I have been an active and committed member of the Southington Republican Town Committee for nearly as long. My background is extremely diverse, but not because I bounce from one thing to another. Quite the opposite, in fact. My interests and hobbies are many and my energy level allows me to participate in so many wonderful and exciting endeavors that I feel blessed and compelled to give some of that energy back to our community. The life experiences that I have had over my 57 years has given me an amazing background to draw from as I move forward in life. My main education is in Aerospace Electronics having worked for companies like Canberra, Data Products New England and one of my favorites, Hamilton Standard, where I also became a Metrology Technician. Not willing to relocate when the tech companies moved out of Connecticut in the late 80's, I changed careers and spent seven years as a "Multi-Unit Technical Manager" for a large, national restaurant chain - another career I loved , until the State of Connecticut came calling. In 2000, I was offered a position with the Connecticut Department of Correction where I am currently employed. I will have 20 years in the department as of April, 2020. I am also a professional singer and musician who enjoyed a 15-plus year entertainment career. Along with the above mentioned careers, my wife and I have owned and operated a full time entertainment and wedding planning business in Southington that we ran successfully for over 25 years. We retired from that business in 2015 so that we could devote our energies to some other projects such as giving back to the town. I am also a certified personal trainer and extremely concerned about what goes into our air, food and water - which is how I came to decide on choosing the Water Board when throwing my hat into the ring for public office. I believe that a candidate should have some experience in the office that they are seeking and my diverse background which includes technology, business and health/fitness, gives me the needed skills to understand such a technical operation and bring a health perspective and fiscally responsible mindset to the position. |
